We Smile

Closed my eyes,
See the picture of you,
I hold you in my arms,
A tight embrace,
Knowing it has always been you.

We rest our foreheads on each others,
Smile, and close our eyes.
Moments pass,
We clasp our hands,
No words said.

Time passes,
We hear a noise,
Some drunken teens causing trouble outside.
I kiss your forehead,
Then your cheek,
And whisper “I’ve always loved you”.

Small smiles,
Taxi arrives,
Time for me to leave,
Go home and think about what we said.

We take a long embrace,
One that can say more than words,
You kiss my lips,
Pull away before I know it.
We smile.
